This nature photographer  has auxiliary infrared forward headlights with which to use night vision goggles out in the CA desert. I thought I was really "covert" until my first passenger said, "Covert, my butt...you light  the whole desert red when you put on the brakes." :(

Questions re my 1995 Jeep Cherokee...12volt says 2001 Jeep brake light switch wires are (hot) pink/blue and (cold) WHITE/ tan:

1. Is this still correct for 1995;

2. is the "brakelight switch" that 12volt refers to the one located at the brake pedal and;

3. in order to manually switch OFF my brake lights, can I simply cut and splice an on/off switch into the hot side brakelight wire near the pedal and call it a day?  Or with this low wattage type light would I still need to use a relay?

If there is anything else I should be aware of , please let this novice know. Thanks

Thanks...I'll go do it tomorrow and will let the forum know if there were any complications...but I think it should be straightforward as well. I once had a very slow (Cape Cod Cat) but very comfortable sailboat with an extremely quiet engine. My friends on their gold-plater racing boats used to have fits watching me pass them on the way over to the Edgartown (Martha's Vineyard) regatta. They didn't figure it out for 3 years when I had to tell them there had been a "small infraction of the rules" on the trip over. :) Happy torque braking...lol
