I am looking for an HID kit for my car an didn't know what brand I should go with as I want to make sure I get a nice set-up. I know to make it legal I need to replace the headlight housing as well. By the way I have an 05 Tahoe and if anyone could help me find a HID kit that would be awesome.

We use Helios or Eurolite for our customers and most of them we convince to get the 6000 Kelvins kit for the brightest lights available. We've had no problems with any of them coming back about the police stopping them because of the lights being too bright.

The concern is more than being 'too bright'.

Discharge lamps have an axial & curved light source- while the filament generally is longitudinal and always a straight light source. This puts the light source out of the correct position in the lamp assemble, so the light is not aimed properly. This can cause glare which is a safety detriment to the driver and other drivers. You can compound this fundamental issue with the increase in color temperature, as those pretty blues and purples have a higher refraction angle, and are more likely to glare all by themselves.

The only way to get around these issues is to use a lamp designed for a discharge lamp. That is why the US, EU, and Japan hae the vehicle codes the way they do.

Get a hold of me and I can tell you all about them, this is from one of the only D.O.T. aproved Co. I know of.

Also you know what your talking about on an H.I.D. kit so you already know how much they are, Call me.

I wish to know about these DOT approved aftermarket HID's as well!

Yes, since there is NO HID KIT that is DOT approved at this time. HIDs that are fit into a headlight without a headlight housing that is designed for HID use is illegal.

For your vehicle , xenon depot has a HID headlight replacement that is DOT certified, for a grand...
