LED conversion bulb

I was looking at the new type LED bulbs that are made to replace the old standard 1156 and 1157 bulb. Has anyone used these yet? Do they give the same resistance to the circuit as a standard bulb? The reason for my question, if the resistance is different, the flashers and turn signal may not work correctly. Also, in a red tail light, would you use a super white or a red bulb for the best effect?HotRod

I PUT THIS CONVERSION IN MY 92 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH THE CLEAR TAIL LIGHTS. YOU KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE A TURN SIGNAL THAT IS BLOWN OUT AND IT STARTS TO BLINK REAL QUICK, WELL THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I PUT THE REAR STOP, TURN, AND BACK UP WITH THE NEW LED CONVERSION. MAYBE IT'S JUST MY CAR BUT IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME AT ALL. IT'S AS BRIGHT AS THE ORIGINAL TO ME AT LEAST. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU ALL KNOW.Sound Pressure

the led bulbs will flash at a faster rate    because of the reduced current draw        special flashers are sold to compinsate for this though        the special flashers are available through special hot rod supply places        they do look nice though     peek in a magazine like american rodder    I'm sure you will find an ad for the different flasher

Use red LED's with red lenses.

i have almost the same problem...but in my case i added a relay so my blinkers will also be my brake lights.  everything works but my blinkers are blinking fast now. i am thinking that the resistence is lowered now since i am using an direct 12 volts. i was wondering if it is possible to add in a resistor or something use have more resistence? sounds like it should work.....any ideas?

From what I know about automotive flasher circuits, they flash based on the load on the flasher. That's why a turn signal will not flash when there is a burnt out bulb. The resistor idea will definately work, but keep in mind that the wattage of the resistor will have to equal the wattage of a typical bulb. Thats not something that you can run down to the local Radio Shack and buy.HotRod
