i have tried and tried to understand how to hook up this sub. but i cant figure it out. maybe you can help.
first of all i have a alpine A8002t or A8000t amp that pushes about 800rms 2 ohm stable. i have it run from about 18 ft. of 4 guage wire.
i just recently bought a blaupunkt vw 1200 sub and an enclosure with one terminal opening to hook up the sub.
if someone could please help me wire this up to its maximum set up i would be greatly appreciate.
if i can wire it up 1 ohm stable can that hurt the sub and do any of you like the blaupunkt brand? i just bought the sub because it is a really good deal on crutchfield.com
thanks for looking.

well first off you do NOT have an Alpine amp.
You have an AUDIOBAHN amp...it won't put out 800 watts realistically
We need to know the model amp you have
Take the sub out of the box and tell us how it is wired...the sub has dual 2 ohm coils

If you have an Audiobahn 8002 then it requires no less than 4-ohms load when bridged.  The Blau VW1200 is a DVC 2-ohm speaker, so you'll have to wire both VCs in series to bridge to that amp.  Check the woofer wiring wizard in the left hand column if you don't understand.

Your amplifier owner's manual should show you exactly how to do it.  Be sure to search this forum for "setting gains" and set your amp correctly.

ok i have a audiobahn a8002t and one 12 inch blaupunkt (vw1200)
the sub is wired with the hidden dvc cable on one + and - on each voice coil.
then i have the amp bridged having one + and - going to a one voice coils - and one voice coils +...............
is there anyway to get these to a 2 ohm setup.
(also side note-- i plan on buying another blaupunkt sub and getting one of the kickers 1000.1 amps ($750) to run the 2 subs at 2 ohms?)

sounds like you currently have it wired in series for a total of 8 ohm.

your description sounds like this

blaupunkt vw 1200 sub -- posted image.

for 2 ohms you want to do this -

blaupunkt vw 1200 sub -- posted image.

If you add a second vw1200 you can only wire a total impedance of 1 or 4 ohms.
