My sub is going to be facing backward in my truck and it will be easier if i just run the wire out the port slot, would this be bad or greatly affect the sound because i have slightly changed the port size.

Speaker wire out port = ghetto setup.  speaker wire out of port slot -- posted image.  But no, it won't significantly affect the sound unless the wires rattle and buzz inside the port.
