Hi, i have been trying to hook up an auxiliary cable to the aux plug in my 2003 honda accord. I am using a rca - 3.5mm jack which i cut at the rca end hoping to hook it up to the aux input.
I am having trouble because i am not 100% sure on the pinouts. And also the radio will not switch to aux unless something is plugged in. I suspect that there will have to be a jump between 2 pins.

I tried using this diagram and tried to jump pins 5-13 and 6-14 with no luck in switching to aux. I hooked up the right channel to pin 9, left channel to pin 10, and both shield wires to pin 3.
any information will be helpful i searched everywhere with no luck. i also dont want to buy the 80+ dollar adapters that i suspect dont do anything different than what i am trying to do.
Thanks in advance for any help
i am an idiot

If that plug is the where the CD Changer plugs into the radio, you will HAVE to spend the 80 dollars.  The radio will not switch to that input if it does not see a changer.  The 80 dollar box tells the radio that there is a changer connected to it so it will switch to the input.
