This is my first post and it's good to be here! This is a great site and has already helped me so much just with searches I've made.
Here's my question: 2005 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Touring. My project is to add amps, new speakers front and back doors and a sub to the existing head unit. I will be taking the signal from the stock amp to feed the new additions. The stock alternator is 160a and seems to be enough to support all the electrical and the new stereo additions. The amps are: 1 PPI PCX-480 (4 x 80 RMS) 4 channel for the door speakers and an Orion Cobalt 260 (240 RMS) which will run an 8" sub. Do you think this alternator will be able to handle it? On the Pacifica forum that I frequent I have read that all the bells and whistles in this car do put a strain on the electrical system but I have not had any such problems so far. I do have a MA Audio 1 Farad Cap which I am considering but I have read about caps not doing anything. I had this exact system (including the cap) in my last car which was a 2003 Eclipse and never had the lights dim once but I can't recall how many amps the stock alternator was. Any advice and all comments are appreciated.

Sounds to me like you'll be just fine. maybe throw the cap in just for good measure but i'm sure you'll be fine. i've done some systems similar to that in some smaller cars/suvs and haven't had any problems. But lets see what the experts on here have to say...

You should be fine with what you have if you are not going to be running but the amps you have ,with a 160amp alternator ,IMO i would'nt even think you even need the cap.
