Okay here is the deal. I just bought an eD 11ov.2 10" sub and I installed it yesterday, today I let a proffesional set the gains. Everything was going and sounding good for about 20-30 minutes after he was done, then I started noticing a sort of rattle on certain "notes" playing through the sub. These rattles are not from any loose things in the car, but from the sub itself. Its not a "post note rattle" as if the sub were blown, it happens during the note. I was thinking an air leak, but if it is an air leak shouldn't I be able to feel air coming out? Also i don't have a gasket between the sub and the box, I just screwed it in because I don't have nor do I know where to find a gasket.

When I apply slight pressure to the sub while it is playing, this rattle goes away.

I need some help with this one.

if you bought it new, it should be covered under warranty. I know what your talking about and its at the tip of my tongue.

I'm not sure that I know what you are talking about but I really do think that it is an air leak. I mean there was not caulk lining in the box or around the sub or the terminal cup. The screws were really loose since I used the same hole twice. I honestly dont think that the sub is blown? It doesn't smell blown or burnt up. I will try buying some caulk and usuing different screw holes while sealing the old ones.

Do you think that it's blown?

its not blown, the sub still sounds fine and performs fine right? I have had one do this before. It was a cheaper peice. And I was able to return it for warranty. If it was an air leak, how would it seal up when you apply pressure to the sub? If the box was built properly, it should of been glued when it was being built and wouldnt need caulked.

Yeah I guess it sounds and performs fine except for this rattle obviosly...yeah good point, my finger is not that magical. So what would the problem be then? What could be causing this anoying rattle that just kills the sound?

maybe something came unglued. Have you dropped the speaker or anything like that?

No, nothing was unplugged, i just took it out of the box and everything looked good. I think I will try to send this back...the company is only 15 miles from my house so i'll see what I can do.

When you say you push on the sub and the noise goes away, are you pushing on the cone (part that moves) or the frame (part you screw down?

If the cone, then the sub has came unglued somewhere and the cone is flapping against another part of the sub. If the frame, then air is leaking from around where the gasket should be -you did say there is no gasket... the screws may have became loose in those 30min and air is now leaking.

Either way, return to the place where it was installed and demand they fix the problem.
