I am getting some information gathered about my audio system.

I am looking at a single 10" Polk Audio db Series SVC ( http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/specs/subs/10inch/db1040/), and i am hoping to run it off of an Orion XTR 275 amp in mono, in a sealed enclosure. I beleive the amp runs 300 watts in mono, although i'm not sure if that is peak or continuous. i haven't been successful at finding that info online. Do you think these are compatible? or would a DVC be much more compatible? Could I just play with the gains and be safe? I like Polk in terms of sound (I have had them before) and price (I was recently laid off). But, I also don't want to blow the sub because it wasn't compatible with the amp I already own.

Any help or suggestions would be great...thanks in advance!

You'll be fine.  Just make sure to set the gain properly (read the sticky post) and make sure you have an input plug for that great old-school amp.  The amp is rated at 150 watts per channel into 2-ohms (or 300 watts bridged into 4-ohms.)

I was definitely gonna keep it bridged at 4 ohms. I will also play with the gains based on the sticky's protocol, I was just looking for some reassurance.

so i think i will go with that for now then...a 10" svc polk run at 4 ohms off of the orion 275xtr mono.

i love the amp. i have had it about 11 years now, but it hasn't been used since '99. i bought it new. i had 3 at one time, unfortunately now, i'm down to the one...but oh well.

Thanks for the help. i also have another car, that i am looking to experiment with in terms of audio systems. different speakers and balls to the wall SQ (i hope). i am not bound by time on it - just budget for now. i am gonna finish my daily driver first (on a budget) and save up for the the other project.
