ai net cable conversion

I acquired an AI-Net cable that was for a CD changer. I want to convert it to an AUX input cable for my Alpine.

Now, i'm assuming that i'd use the red and white wires for the RCA inputs' right and left positive, and the 'ground' wire (wrapped around the red and white wires) for the RCA jacks I want to solder to the cable. But, I don't want to do anything until I know for sure.

Do you think i've got it right (red and white for positives, 'ground' wire that is wrapped around them for the negative)?

I was given this diagram by Johnecon2001 on ROE. Red for R+, orange for L+, and white for -.

Do those colors seem right?

Is that a shield wire around the RED / white wires? 

Yes, although I didn't check it for continuity at the plug so I don't know what they were for -wasn't interested in them...

Well, it's installed! Works like a charm. Saved me $8.50! The green wire is left +, the blue is right +, and each have their own -, which are with each wire, in parallel at the plug. Both wires, the blue with -, and the green with -, are wrapped in foil, so that's how they are sheilded. I used Monster XLN RCA jacks (their 'higher-end', rebuildable jacks).

I'm going to spare pics, as I ran out of shrink-wrap and used electrical tape instead... All wires are soldered.

I have a Jaguar 2000 XJR with Alphine head unit, navigation system, and CD changer running on AI-NET. I want to make an AUX IN jack and I plan to remove the CD changer in order to accomplish this because the changer is no longer feeding CDs from its magazine.

1) I was told by a car installer that I will need to keep the CD changer attached so that the head unit still "sees" the CD changer. Since my head unit lacks an AUX button, the plan is to switch to CD whenever I want to play from my AUX source. Supposedly, the CD changer needs to be on the AI-NET bus so that the head unit "sees" that there is a device there (apparently, keeping it connected feeds informtion into pin 3 (the data bus)) and that seems to make sense to me. But is it true?

2) If I need to keep the CD changer attached, I plan to splice into the AI-NET cable going between the Navigation DVD player and the CD changer and pull wires for pins 4,5,6 for the left/right/ground. I would then attach a long wire to the wires corresponding to those pins and route then to the cabin of the car (the AI-NET amp and changer are in the trunk). Does this sound like the right approach?

3)  The thread above makes it very unclear what colors are correct. Is this correct? --> The green wire is left +, the blue is right +

4) if I do not need to have the CD changer connected then I would need AI-NET ***FEMALE*** to RCA (female preferred but male ok). Does anyone know if this cable exists? What about an AI-NET gender changer--does that exist (I would want m-f gender changer)?

I have already moved that gear on the CD changer--to no avail. The problem is not that gear, which causes the machine to "seek" the next available CD. It is another mechanism that actually feeds the CD into the player. I have opened the machine several times to fix this but at this point I just want to either replace it entirely or stop using it.

As I mentioned, my head unit has no AUX function. That's why I want to splice into the CD changer's AI-NET cable.

I already know about the KCA-121B cable. First, that cable won't work because it has a MALE AI-NET connector and, as I mentioned, I need FEMALE. Second, I already mentioned that I was told that data line must remain active in order for my head unit to "think" there is still a CD changer attached. If I had KCA-121B with a female end and used it in place of my changer it supposedly would not work because when I select CD from my head unit it would not permit that CD function to work and I would get no sound from my MP3 player as a result.
