I need some help.  When I go to work in the morning my stereo works fine.  When I take my lunch at noon, my stereo has power, but nothing comes out of the speakers for the rest of the day.  This occurs everyday.  I put in 6x9 speakers behind the front seat of my truck.  If I disconnect those speakers this problem does not occur.  Why does it work perfectly only in the mornings?

The only thing I can think of is heat.  Are the 6x9s the only "rear" speakers wired up to the radio?

At lunch do the speakers play at all (even like a few seconds)?  What happens if you disconnect only one 6x9?  What about if you only disconnect the other 6x9?

They are the only "rear" speakers.  At lunch it might make a scratching sound for only about half a second.  Then that is it.  I haven't disconnected any speakers yet.  I guess I am living in a fantasy world hoping that it would magically fix itself.

Do I need to use a bigger speaker wire?

Please list the make/model of all gear in your setup, and how all speakers are wired to the amps/head unit.  Thanks.

The stereo is a Kenwood KDC-122 that I've had for a few years.  The speakers are x-plod 5" in the front and 6x9's in the rear.  There is no amp.  All I did was remove the stock speakers and connected the existing wires to the new speakers.

are you sure the speakers aren't grounding out ?

make sure the speaker terminals are not touching metal or that the speaker wire is pinched

I will do that tonight, but would that make it work in the morning only?

What are the model #'s of the speakers? Maybe they are 2ohm, and the stereo stays cool enough in the morning to play them...?

That's my thought too.
