Hey guys... firstly im from south africa, so the brand might not be fimiliar, but i shall explain to the best of my ability....

i bought a 3600watt(PEAK) Star Sound (SSA 3600.2) and a 5200watt(PEAK) Star Sound Digital monoblock (SSA-S1D-5200) amplifiers. With the 3600w (2ohm stereo stable) when connected with a 2Ohm stereo load.. as the volume is turned up the amp cuts off...? any suggestions?

With the 5200watt (1ohm stable) - a 2ohm or 4ohm load the amplifier goes onto "short protection" at higher volumes.(Amp cuts off)

could it be that there is insufficient power form the car battery, coz the battery is relatively small.

Please any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated.

Oh and i have checked the load with a multimeter.

iv also checked the charging when the car is idling... the voltage neva drops bellow 13.8v before the amp cuts off.

The Auto electrician that checked the charging for me tol me that although the alternator charge is correct, the amount of current that the amp needs is too much for the battery and i should replace the battery with a bigger one... the problem is i got a 96 Toyo Corrolla and the is NO space for a bigger battery inda the front....

I am not sure if clipping can cause the amp to cut off, but theres NO distorsion b4 the amp cuts off

Any suggestions pleeeeeease and Thank you

well with those amps you need a constant 14.4 volts, first you need to upgrade the alternator, the big 3 and add a second battery. then you have to use 0 gauge wire to power and the same to ground. make sure you use tha appropiate fuse for the system.

Your voltage at 13.8 is normal so it doesn't sound like a power issue. I suggest reading the "how to set your gain" sticky and following those directions, and also read the "what is a proper ground" sticky and measure your ground return resistance, and improve it if necessary.
