Hey everyone,
It is my first post here I have been helping my gf throw a sound system for her car and trying to do it on her small budget. So there are a few things we were able to pick up cheap so before i go on I KNOW that everything is not set up the best way possible and I know that i just could not afford to go out and buy everything for her right now. She has an 03 pontiac grand am and I just sold a car that had a nice panasonic deck in it, I do not have the model number with me but it has a 50x4 (peak) and runs at 18rms so I installed that to replace her stock deck and then a got a real good deal on a set up phoenix gold 6x8's for the doors (rd40? something like that) I also have a kenwood KAC-7204 1000w 2 channel amp and 2 10" mtx 4500 rm.
Here is my dilemma I have the deck and front door speakers installed and they sound great at a low-mid volume but when i turn 'em up they start to crack a bit which is driving me crazy! I have not hooked the subs or amp yet, I am in the mists of building some custom fiberglass boxes for the trunk so those components are not in yet.
My question is can I unhook the back deck speakers and then bridge the front 2 speakers over the 4 channels on the deck? or and I think can I run the door speakers back the amp that my subs are using? Each sub is going to be on their own channel which would put a sun and a speaker on the same channel; doesnt sound like a good idea, but as you can tell I am learning at all this. I can build glass boxes blind folded but i dont really understand the rest of it so i am trying to learn.
Sorry for the long post but any help would be truly appreciated
Thank!
i am an idiot

The output chip of your radio is basically 4 separate bridged amplifiers. You will gain no extra power from it by attempting to bridge a front and rear output.

A 2ohm load on the deck would probably blow it.

Thanks guys,
gives me something to think about, so here are some other things that i need to look into, would soldering the wires to the speakers make it sound any better? I currently just have it crimped fittings that clip on to the speakers.
Also and i doubt it because it is so such a small load but would upgrading the speaker wire do any good?
I am trying to avoid buying another amp, I cannot afford it at this point so I am trying to do the best with what I have. I havemt looked how much work it would be to re-wire and solder the door speakers, but if it would be help.
Also what kind of amp would be good for door speakers?
Thanks

I dont think soldering would help much, the distortion youre getting is coming from a lack of power not from lose wires. As long as the connection is nice and tight you should be fine.
If youre not running an amp, theres no reason to upgrade the speaker wire, its just a waste of time and money on the 18watt rms youre getting from the deck.
Why not spend that time installing an amp kit and maybe running speaker wire to the back so its ready when you can get another amp?
Also, could you buy ANY cheap amp and use it for now? Who knows, maybe she'd be happy with the sound even if its not a $300 amp. It depends on how picky she/you are I guess. Me personally, I'd rather have music thats not distorted and sounds as good as its going to get with what I have to spend. Obviously a $70 amp isnt going to give you audiophile sound, but it is going to sound better than distortion.

ok I am thinking about running wire and dropping it off at the back by the amp so i can hook it up with another amp when i get it. I literally have to pay out over 3 grand before the end of the year so I am on a tight budget so it will be a while so I am just trying to figure out anything i can do before i can afford to get another amp. So i am not against spending more money i am just against spending money right now so I am just trying to do all i can on a budget so she can have the best sound possible.
Thanks
