Im having a hard time deciding between these 2 subs.  I know the 13w7 will give me a lot of low bass and be loud as hell and still sound good but im considering the dd 9512 because i want to start competing soon.  Anyone have any thoughts on these 2 subs?

each driver is designed for completely different applications
also how low, loud, or good the driver sounds is completely enclosure and install dependent.

Since you are looking at high powered drivers, I guess you are looking at SPL. I would not use the JL on SPL. Yes they get loud but at 86 db sensitivity your going to need a good sized amp. Depending on the power class, this could be a handicap. JL recommends the 500/1 but the 1000/1 just works better. The DD at 89 db has a 3db advantage out of the box. The DD's are well known in the SPL World.
You need to give us more information about what you are wanting to accomplish. Vehicle, power class, budget, etc...

i want to compete in usaci spl comps.  I had a bad ass system in my explorer sport but it got stolen a couple months ago.  Budget is kind of tight but im lookin into getting 2 dd9512s and possibly putting a stetsom 7kd amp on them.  almost all of the explorer is dynamated.  i have a 220 amp alternator with a red top optima battery and 2 kinetic hc1800 that didnt get stolen.

There are plenty of options...Mach5Audio has a good spl driver. Sundown Audio's Nightshade is doing well in the spl scene...Fi Audio, Ascendant Audio...plenty of companies.
