speakers shrieking horribly

I just finished installing my Infinity Kappa series speakers to my Infinity Reference 5 channel amp and I am hearing this horrible shrieking sound that fluctuates with the pressing of my gas pedal. I know better than to run my RCA's and speaker wire next to my 12 volt power cable, but for some reason it's still making that terrible noise and I can not figure out why. Does anybody have any input as to what it may be?

Do you have a pioneer deck? Perform the test at the top of this page If necessary follow the instructions to repair the problem.

Well I think that it must be the amp because I had the same speakers, minus the sub, hooked up to a cheap sony 444 and did not have this issue. Thanks for the feed back, if there are any more ideas out there I would really love to hear them.

How is the amp grounded and what is the ground return resistance?  Do you have a Pioneer head unit?  Have you double checked to make sure no speaker wire is shorting to ground?Support the12volt.com

I know that the amp is grounded to the actual chassis of the car, I'm not 100% of the resistance, and not to sound like a complete moron I'm not exactly sure how to find out either. I do not have a pioneer head unit, I have an older P.O.S. Sony explode. What I do not understand is that everything worked fine until i switched out the amps using the same wiring except adding the subwoofer from the preout on the back of the deck and to the amp. Is there a way to find out if the amp itself is just bad, as xplorin16 said infinity amps are known to have noise issues and I'm wondering if I just happen to be the poor sap who spent a lot of money on an amp I thought was going to be perfect for my set up, but in the end turned out to be garbage.

There is a sticky post called "What is a proper ground" that describes how to check return resistance.  Yes, the Sony head could have the same problem described in the link above about Pioneer heads.  You should check that before you assume your amp is bad.  Also, what happens if you turn down the gain?  Did you set it properly?
