Ok I just installed phoenix gold rsd6.5cs in my front doors. I ditched the rear fill and bridged the amp for the 2 front components. The amp is a eclipse ea4000. It was originally ran off 4 channels for front and rear speakers. The problem didnt start happening until i installed components  and bridged amp. The amp and speakers will sound great and then out of nowhere the amp will cut completely off. The sub amp will stay on and continue playing bass. I have 4 gauge from battery to distr. block then 8 gauge to each amp. I also have both amps grounded to same bolt underneath back seat. I need to grind paint off though but do you think this is the problem? also my neg. battery terminal is messed up and i need to fix it but my reading on my a-pillar gauge is around 12.5-13 volts or better when the amp cuts off. It dipped under 12 one time but didnt cut off at that time. Also my gains weren't set the right way but i turned them down and it seemed to help but then it cut out again later. It seems to just cut out like maybe every 15-20 mins. Please help any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like your gain is too high.

ya i've backed the gain off on my way home tonight and it didn't do it at the time, but im still gonna try and re-ground by grinding away paint, and try to fix the neg. battery terminal tomorrow. If the gain was too high would it have caused permanent damage. Also it's not like it was distorting at least from what i could hear before it cut off. I mean the amp cut off completely and wouldnt cut back on until i had turned the car off and turned it back on. Do you think its a problem with the amp or hopefully still just the gain? Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds to me like it's just the amp going into overload protection due to improperly set gain.  Read and follow the "How to set your gains" sticky post.

I made sure the grounds were perfect today. I checked power at battery with dmm with system up car running it was reading 13.8-14.4. The gains were set higher than this before it was bridged and never had any problems. So when you bridge it should it start going into protection or cutting off now even though the amps gains aren't as high as they were previously? Im going to set gains tomorrow with dmm but im hoping it will still get as loud as it does now without cutting off or close to it because it sounds great and has no distortion or clipping that i can hear at all before it cuts off. When it cuts off I can also cut the headunit off and cut it back on and the amp comes back on and front speakers start back playing so it almost seems like a remote turn on problem. I've got a remote turn on wire going from that amp up to hu rem. turn on and also from sub amp to hu rem. turn on. Would it help maybe if i tapped into the sub amps remote turn on closer to my amp? Or even just run remote wire to ignition to see if that helped out the situation? I heard something about using a relay or something helped someone out. Does this just seem like my amp is just messed up or still a gain problem? Thanks for the help.

Yes, when you bridge the gain must be lower than if not bridged.  The load on the amp is greater in bridged mode since the speaker impedanced is lower.  By bridging the amps you changed the loading on each channel from 4-ohms to 2-ohms.  Gain must be reset.

well im pretty sure i've got it fixed. I just went back and rewired it and unbridged it so i have rear fill now. Only problem is now my tweeters aren't working so i guess they are blown. I tried a tweeter i just had laying around on pass. side and it worked so i know its not the crossover. Anyone know if audiosavings is easy to deal with about warranty or not? the speakers and tweeters weren't clipping from what i heard and weren't distorted at all. Gain wasn't cranked crazy high either. If anyone knows how they are with warranty let me know, i've already sent them an email about warranty. Also if they dont help me with the warranty can i just buy replacement tweeters like some decent diamond audio or something around 100 or less and use the pg rsd crossovers without any problems and them still sound good? Thanks everybody, and any recommendations on new tweeters are welcome.

I don't have anything to say about if your seller will honor warranty, but if they are authorized dealers they should.  However, if your amp was cutting out you were indeed clipping and that is probably what blew the tweets.  Plus, your Eclipse amp puts out 150 watts in bridged mode and the PG speaks are rated for what, 100 watts?  Your warranty may be null and void.

I highly recommend you read and follow the instructions in the "How to set your gain" sticky, as it sounds like you really never set ot correctly.

And lastly, you can try using other tweeters with the component crossover, but it may or may not sound right as there are a lot of factors that go into crossover design, and all crossovers are designed for the specific woofer/tweeter set being used.  It is not as simple as swapping in another randomly... although you might get lucky.

alright thanks. You have any idea if there is anywhere you can just buy the same replacement tweeters that come with the components? i dont want to have to buy a whole new component set unless i have to. Hopefully they will honor the warranty but i dont really expect it. thanks.
