I recently acquired a Clarion DB185MP cd player and when I tried bench testing it, I only get sound through the preamp outputs. The internal amp seems to be working because it heats up preety quick, but there isn't any sound coming out.clarion no internal power -- posted image.

When you say it heats up quickly, does it get so hot you can not leave your finger on the heat sink?   If it is getting that hot it is bad.   If you can tell me the number silk screened on the board right next to it.  I can get you pricing and availability on the part.  It will be either  IC102  IC 302 IC305 IC402 or IC408

If it is IC105, the part number is  051334900   The phone number you call is  1-800-421-5080  The part costs 8,84 plus shipping.   IC302, that part number is   051502890  Cost is 10.16 plus shipping.  IC402 is  051206000  and the cost is 13.13 plus shipping.  Let me know if it is a number other than the ones I posted info for.

The original part number is LA47201  you may be able to find it cheaper than the 13.13 they have it for.

ok heres the deal. I didn't bother getting a new internal amp. Instead I upgraded and got external amps. But my internal one is still getting really hot and I don't think it would be safe to put in my car. If I just cut it off will I mess up the cd player?
