big 3 upgrade wires

Hi, I am having a problem with lights dimming with my 400RMS amplifier on a 03 dodge stratus SE so I am going to do the big 3 upgrade... What size of wires should I use??? I have 8awg to power the amp... should I use the same or bigger???I that size (8) correct or that might be the cause of my lights dimming problem??thanks...

Your'e not putting a whole lot of extra strain on that car's power supply with what you described.  Replace the car's battery if it's still the '03 original or an '06 replacement.  Figure 3 good years of life for a battery.  And work on all electrical connections and grounding points, first. Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Hey guys, I am about to perform the big 3 upgrade on my 03 stratus SE, which only has remote battery terminals from under the hood (the battery is located in front of the left front wheel and to access it you have to take the wheel off and remove the protective guards, which makes it very difficult to reach)...I was wondering if I can do all the conections to the remote battery terminals and then replace the wires from the actual battery to the remote terminals... would that work??? my amp is currently wired to the remote terminals...Thanks...

Sure. I've done that before in a Cirrus (pretty much exactly the same as a stratus).

I did a 05 stratus and I thought going from the remote post was good but I still had a voltage drop. The battery is in the front fender I can't remember if it is one the driver or passenger side but just take off the inter fender well cover and it is right there. Just follow the wire and replace it with 4g or bigger to the post. Then upgrade everything else for the big 3Ronald Bailey Owner/ Installer of VIBRATION CUSTUM SOUNDS. wont be a problem but may cause premature corrosion. use a "grommet" to remedy the problem.
