Hey i'm new here. I am pretty knowledgeable with car audio/video, but this one has boggled my mind. I am running two 12" Kicker Comps on a Hifonics BXi608 amp. I have had this setup for awhile now but the other day it went into protect mode and I can't get it out. I have removed the in-line fuse for a day to try and reset the amp, that didn't work. I checked all of my wiring and everthing is fine with that. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Chances are your amp has one or more shorted output transistors.  You will need to have all outputs on the side that has the shorted ones.

I have no idea what it was but I took out my inline fuse again during class today and when I came back from class and put the fuse back in they worked fine and have since then. Thanks for the help though!

Disconnect the speakers and the RCA cables from the amp.  Using a volt meter verify you have a good power, ground and remote connections on the amp.  If the voltage is good and the protect light is still coming on, your amp is broken.  With it's intermittent nature, you may have broken legs on the output transistors of the amp.  This is a common problem with those amps if they are mounted to a sub enclosure.

How is simply adding a "kinetic" battry going to make the life of that amp longer? Keeping you voltage up to keep it within it operating limits yes. But simply just adding a batt to a sub par electrical system is just asking for yet one more problem.

That is really a no brainer.  The HiFonics rep also reps Kinetic batteries.
