1987 buick grand national audio

I have the following audio equipment to be installed, and I have little experience.

Alpine CDP 9855,   Alpine pa-1(EQ)

Polk Audio component speakers (1' and 5.25")

factory 4 x 10 (rear deck) JBL GT)1412 sub, Fosgate 500.2 amp.

What size and what type sub box?  replace factory speaker wiring? wiring diagram? additional amp required?wire sizes?fuses? dampening?

Ideally, add an amplifier for the front speakers or use the amp you have now for the front and a new amp for the sub. If you plan on adding rear speakers then consider a 4 channel amplifier to power the front and rears. If you are going to go ahead with rear speakers, you can purchase a 4x10" - 6x9" adaptor template from most specialty car audio shops or drop in a replacement 4x10", the Eclipse SE8405 is a fine speaker for this.

1)  Do you think that you need the EQ?

2) Definitely run new wiring, the wiring will be determined by the size of the amps and the length of the wire.

3) Sound deadening is a plus, although this car is heavier metal than most of the coke cans on wheels that are produced these days.

4) If you are after some bass and a easy build, a sealed box of about 1.25 - 1.75 cubix foot is more than ample. If you are trying to get loud, then a properly designed and constructed ported box is the way to go.

1. i have never used a 2nd EQ i feel its not really needed.

2. the power wire to your amp should have a fuse close to the battery

3. mostly where it rattles but if you want to go all out put it every where truck lid floors etc.

4. what kinda of car is this? regular car with trunk? if so the sub goes in the trunk facing to the back of the car

I wouldnt use an external EQ. Let your headunit do that. I have an 85' GN,  and the car is acoustically sound! Sometimes simple is better.  I would recomend a 5-channel amp for your application. Less strain on the vehicle and it's charging system.  And your turbo needs that.  I would check out a 5-channel from US Amps. They have a great XT series 5-channel.
