I have a jbl 1200.1 and 2 orion xtr pros in a ported box that is tuned to 36hz what should i set th gain on the amp to and also the Freequency setting on the amp too.

it is really hard to tell you exactly how much to turn the knob, especially since we dont know what the rest of the system is...you could have .5V of input or you could have 8V of input, depending on deck, EQ, line driver, etc, etc...
an easy way to set your gains is to find one of the most intense, bass heavy tracks that you like to play often...set your gains on the amp to zero and turn your deck on and up to around 3/4 of full vloume, maybe a little better, depending on how loud you listen to everything...maybe turn it up as loud as you will ever play it, to be safe...with the deck turned on as loud as you will play it, go to the gain setting on the amp and SLOWLY turn up the gain until you hear the subs start to distort a little bit...then turn the gain down a fraction of a turn and that is about as high as you will want to set your gain...
as for the frequency, are you talking cutoff frequency or equalizer frequency?
