trunk noise

i have a ford contour and i'm dissapointed with it's sound quality. the road noise that heard is almost unreal for a small car of the late 90's and the trunk is now getting on my nerves. i've found that if i press down on the trunk with about 15lbs(a guess) of pressure a nice ammount goes away. and i really press down on it almost all of it goes away. i'm not experienced enough to fool around with a rivited latch, so i'm afraid to attempt to lower it. what else could i try? any advice would be appreciated.

Try sticking on some vibration damping material. They are very effective with trunk noise.Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.
