i used to have the pioneer avhp4000dvd and i loves it, i switched to the f-900bt but i dislike it ssooooo much! I forgave the start up and stuff like that but recently i had to deal with the low rca output (2.2v). Yesterday, i been driving ALL day. I went home to change clothes for church and got in the car, i got in set my destination on the gps and drove. 5 mins later, the radio kept resetting, it will start up and stay on for a minute and reset again. I finally came to the decision that im getting a new radio. Pioneer, you let me down! im switching to the avh-p4100dvd. Sorry ppl, i was venting, this radio gave me hell since day 1.

Why should the lower RCA output matter? All you have to do is adjust the amp gains to compensate and you should be right back where you were before.
We have sold a few of those models and haven't had any problems. There is an update that allows it to boot up quicker and fixes a few other problems. Have you looked into that? I suggest resetting the unit and see if that helps. If not, then it should still be under warranty.

You shouldn't ever need to turn the gain up all the way. The reason your subs were louder were probably because your amp was clipping. It may be louder but you have a good chance of wrecking your subs if the gain isn't set correctly. I suggest reading the sticky about setting the gain.
I have heard a lot of bad things about the F-series. I have heard the start up time is pretty long. I also have heard many things about the GPS being slow and the display having problems. It is too bad because they have some good prices on some of those units.
If you get the AVH-P4100DVD post a review of it! I am looking for a new double din unit and that is one of the units I am interested in.anybody else hates the pioneer f series? -- posted image.

the amp i had was mtx 1501d on 2 mtx 9500's sound like bs when i turn the gain up to 75%. it kinda defeated the purpose to have a huge box and i sound like i have some crap in my car, lol. I can deal with the start up time (because of remote start) snd the gps is not really slow, my buddy had a garmin and both was pretty fast and accurate.

Wow this is sad to hear lol because I just bought a AVIC-F900BT and I was kinda impatient so I hooked up the entire thing on my bench supply and I must say, it is slower. The touch screen is slower to touch too. Compared to my flip out AVIC-N3 this thing is like a VW Bug trying to race a Corvette! But then again, I am wondering if it is because Pioneer crammed everything into ONE unit (the older series had a seperate brain module) - maybe that's why this is slower??

One thing that sold me on this was the fact that it has Bluetooth cellphone link (it works pretty well). For example you can tell it to "Call Home" and it will right from the headunit or tell it to find a certain song on your ipod and it will (works pretty well but not perfect). Not to mention the SD slot which plays mp3s AND video files! Honestly, I am mostly happy with it except I wish it was a little faster and maybe I will come post a review when I am done installing it hehe.

Yeah I did the 2.0 Update - well to add to it, after I installed it in the vehicle, whenever I would drive the unit  kept resetting! To make a long story short, I had to boot it up in "Testmode" and manually go delete some files from the internal flash memory and then reset the thing. Now it seems to work.... If it craps out on me again I am gonna get rid of the darn thing and get me the good old faithful D3.
