I have been coming to this website for about half a year now learning all that I can and reading as much as I can from the forum and decided to join today. Nonetheless, I am redoing the system that is in my car and wondering if you guys can tell me what you think about what I have so far. The only thing that is installed in the car as of now is a Kenwood KVT -617 DVD; which I purchased when it first came out. The overall sound that I am looking for is a mixture of both SPL and SQ. Since I am still pretty young, 23 years old, I still love the loud crazy bass from subs but when I feel like that could be too much or if im riding with some one then I want the highs and mids to still sound crisp, clear and clean.

These are the items that are going into my car (2002 Mitsubishi Galant) :

SOUND

2- 12" Kicker L7 2 ohm subwoofers (peak\rms) 1500watts\750watts (will be wired parallel for to reach 1 ohm)

1 set of Pioneer TS-D902P 6"X9" (peak\nominal) 360watts\80watts (front doors) http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Speakers/D-Series/Premier/TS-D902P?tab=B

1 set of Pioneer TS-D702P 6- 3/4" (peak\nominal) 280watts\60(rear deck) http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Speakers/D-Series/Premier/TS-D702P?tab=B

2 sets of Pioneer TS-T110 dome tweeter 7/8"(peak\nominal) 120watts\40watts (one for each door) http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Speakers/Other/TS-T110?tab=B

POWER

1 kinetic HC 2400 Power Cell
1 Perfromance Tecknique ICBM-Digital 2000w max amp (1 ohm stable)
1 Kicker 150.2 amp (for my 6-3/4")
1 kicker 200.2 amp (for my 6"X9")
1 kicker kx3 crossover

I think instead of going with 2 two-channel amps I could have gotten away with 1 four-channel amp but hey we live and we learn. I am in the process of getting a custom enclosure built. I am going with a ported enclosure and givinng each sub 2.82 cu. ft. I was going to build myown box but with the lack of tools I decide to just leave it to the professionals.

What do you guys think about this setup is there anything that I should change out or anything that I should add. There is really no budget for this project since this is my third setup and the first two I rushed to buy and was very unhappy with the sound both times. This time I am buying what I want and placing it in my closet until I feel that everything is perfect and ready to go in. I refuse to rush through thisproject this time. So throw some ideas at me and I know with you guys help and ideas my system will be perfect.

The amp.... RETURN IT.
RMS Power Rating: 700 watts x 1 chan. at 2 Ohms
Also, i think you are confused about the woofers. if they are 2ohm,(Dual Voice coils, each at 2ohm) then you can run them TOGETHER at 2 Ohm, 8ohm, or .5ohm....Best would be 2 ohm. Soooo... 700rms is barely enough for one sub. LOLZ. Other than that, I suggest components in the front not 6x9s, u'll get a better sound that way...I hate 6x9.

Lose the 6x9's and invest in a proper set of component speakers. If you want to keep it to Pioneer Premiere, upgrade to the TS-C720PRS. This will make a huge difference to how good your system will sound. Definitely lose the It Can't Be Mine amplifier and get a real one that is going to throw real power to the subs. Why are you using the Kicker crossover?

I made a mistake the 6X9 goes in the rear deck and the 6-3/4 goes in the front door. If you dont mind me asking whats so wrong with 6X9s?

If its only 700 watts at 2 ohms then what amp do you suggest that I get in place of the Perfromance Teknique?

The reason I went with the Kicker crossover is because it was the only 3 channel crossover that I really knew anything about. Is there a problem with this crossover and is there another one that I should look into?

That makes more sense now. Keep the 6x9's if you like as they are a rear speaker and they would do just fine back there. Most important are the front speakers, upgrade them to components if you want to do it right. If your deck has 3 preouts on it, you have absolutely no need for a crossover, chances are that even if it had two preouts you still would not even need it.

My deck does have 3 preouts (front, rear, and sub) so youre saying I can throw the crossover into my closet but I still need a new amp for my subs. Did you have any suggestions on what amp I should get. I've been looking into getting the Kicker ZX1500.1 or a Hifonics amp. Also I am kind of lost on how to hook up the four tweeters. Any help with that would be much appreciated.

Thank you al for all the help and feed back so far. I really appreciate it and take all feedback to heart, its not just going in one ear and out the other.

The Component setup in the front doesn't need extra tweeters...the 6x9 will fill the rear.
As far as the amp, I personally like HIFONICS. Get a BRUTUS series at least 1200 watts. I would go with the 2000W. Class D.
I Think kicker amps are too over priced.
The Kenwood headunit has a FILTER called HPF, basically its the crossover. Its built into the unit. Check your manual on how to access it... I think its hold the "menu" key for 2 seconds.
Good luck, make sure you go easy on the subs for a week or two...Kickers sound smoother after this period. :)
