Found this amp boxed away from moving. I cant find any info on it. Anyone familiar with it? AUTOTEK AT-904. Says it runs hex(6-channel) mode.

Autotek did have a cheaper line of amplifiers around 86 87 that may have had similar model numbers. I do not remember seeing a 6 channel, but it could have happened. Is the amp tall with a flat top with heat sink fins on each side? Power and Groind wires came out of the amp, and a large 9 pin molex connector (in your case maybe a 12 pin) for speaker and remote wires?

Haha I remember those amps with the leads sticking out. No, actually this thing is real modern looking. What they call the "HEX" is aka tri-mode. Meaning that the 5th and 6th speakers are simultaneously wired to the the output terminals used to bridge to 2 channel mode. So it runs 2-4 ohm stereo on 4 channels, while(when wired accordingly) can run 2 more speakers bridged 4-8 ohm making THE HEX! I googled the amp and it was as if It was never made.

i have an autotek 2000.1 pushing 4 10s at 1ohm and it gets really hot for some reason, it doesnt go into protect tho and this the second one iv had and the other one did the same thing but the speaker channels doodie out. and this one i have my gain all the way down.. and whenever i turn my gain and my volume my protect with lightly come on when a deep note comes its weird and i need some opinions on what to do. so let me know.

Is the amp 1 Ohm stable?

yes its 1 ohm stable..i cant even turn it up with it getting real hot.

The 4 10s, are they single voice coil 4 ohm. or dual coil 2 ohm? If they are dual 2s, how do you have them wired? If I had to guess, this is how you have them wired.

The following diagram shows dual 4 ohm coils. This is a 1/2 ohm load. If you have dual 2s wired like this, your amp is running at 1/4 ohm. STOP playing it. It will not hold up forever like this.

Option 1 (parallel) = 0.5 ohm load

Voice coils wired in parallel

Recommended Amplifier: Stable at ¹/₂ ohm mono

no man they are single 4 ohm and i have them wired at 1 ohm iv checked it with a multimeter..and amp gets to hot to touch and my protect light doesnt come on never had.

Turn the volume all the way down on your radio. Leave the radio on for 5 minutes, monitoring the amp for heat. It should not heat up. If it does not heat up, try playing only one speaker at a time. If it does not heat up with one, try each speaker untill you eliminate all speakers as a possible cause of the heat.

Let me know what you find out.
