I recently purchased a 2006 Avalon XL without the JBL stereo and I have read from others online that it is difficult to install an aftermarket head unit in this car. I have read that the climate controls operate through the stereo so you have to keep the factory stereo somewhere in the car with  the climate controls still going to it while rerouting the audio wires to the aftermarket HU. Can anyone confirm this or does anyone have experience completing this procedure? I'd like to know how complicated this will be before deciding to dive into the project and before purchasing a new player. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can install a aftermarket radio as long as the nag and the jbl radio is not installed here is the harness you need to do that. harness
Can't be loud then don't have it.

Thank you for the response and link to that adapter!! I guess now it is just a matter of finding a location in the car to stash the stock radio.
