Hey guys...Get in my car this morning and heard a high pitch whistle from the trunk...Sounded like when a mic backfeeds...It was playing through the diamond 12's and the protection light is shining on the amp...The Amp is a JL A1400...Stereo is a Clarion dmz385usb...All the power is fine...Protection stays on w/ subs and rca's un-hooked...We have a slow day tomorrow(appointments anyway) and can open the amp up then. I read the post about the kicker amp and an internal fuse...(not sure if that applies here?) Thanks

The subs were playing with the protection light lit up?    Do they play audio, or just the noise?   Does the noise change when you rev the engine?  Kicker amplifiers are the only ones that I know of with the fuse.

Yes, high pitch sound in combination w/ the audio(The bass was not nearly as loud). Nope no audible change in loudness/frequency when i rev motor. The amp had both the green and red lights on.(power/protection)

Remove the bottom cover and look for swolen tops on the bank of capacitors, probably very near the speaker terminals.   Can you take a picture of the inside of the amp?    The last time it played properly, was it played extremely hard?
