I have a 2007 VUE w/ on star. The shop says I HAVE to have a wiring harness with OnStar interface. The problem is it cost $150.00 This is the biggest load of crap I have heard in reference to car stereo. Why can't I just buy a regular plug and play harness and bypass the OnStar? I do not use OnStar anyway.

I dont know if they explained everything that the harness does besides intergrating with the onstar but here is the specs

Description

Onstar interface with or without factory amplifiers.

Product Specifications
  • For 2006-2007 Saturn vehicles
  • Retains Onstar with adjustable volume output
  • Retains chimes
  • Retains RAP feature
  • USB update interface compatible

The GMOS-LAN-06 interface is designed to allow the user to replace the OEM radio with an aftermarket unit in 2006-07 Saturn vehicles that use the new GMLAN data bus system and retains full functionality of the Onstar system as well as all safety and warning chimes. The GMOS-LAN-06 will also retain the retained accessory power convenience features. This interface also has the capability of adjusting the Onstar volume.

so not only does it do the onstar it also retains the RAP system which is when the radio stays on till you open the door, and the warning chimes as when you leave the lights on or the keys in the ingnition.

If you do not car about any of this then you can go with the 70-2202 harness.
