The MMBLD-1 is also an iPod®/MP3 input interface, but it adds an 18-Volt Balanced Line Driver added for multi-amp'ed HIfonics audio systems. Our MMBLD-1 has all the MM-1 features PLUS is able to put any Hifonic's amp equipped with a Balance Line Input, into virtual overdrive with its 18-Volts of audio signal.

It's NOT virtual... It WILL overdrive your amps, right into clipping... Potentially damaging your woofers.
If you are getting adequate results without it, don't add it.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I'm getting plenty,I'm running 2 1600w hifonics brutus with 4 12's and 1 18.But I plan on adding another 1600w amp.And thought this would be needed due to getting good signal to all 3 amps.

Oh man this is my favorite car audio subject. Line drivers rock, when used with competent discretion. Most preamps and electronic x-overs have the same magic, but with adjustments and a lil less power. I use the clarion EQ7 to interface with my media player. If thats all you want to do then consider a preamp. They now have multimedia inputs with input adjustments on them. 18v preout is high, real high and dangerous.

The 18volts does not go into the rca inputs on the amps,Witch I do agree would be very dangerous, but It goes into the balanced line input on my amps.I have never used any balanced inputs for signal so I'm trying to get all the info I can.The control on this,is it a gain,a boost controler,or ?

Balanced/unbalanced hmmmmm. 18v hmmmmm Discontinued product if I recall correctly. Ya man its intention is to just take the sources signal and boost the level. Like from whispering to yelling into a microphone. I dont see a need for a control knob on a line driver though. If after you finish putting in the next amp you decide that you arent getting the volume levels you should. Then you can cautiously play with increasing the input signal to the amps. Devices as such will decrease clarity before increasing it.
This is what I do for FUN!

As I said in your post on the Acura forum, I believe it is a waste of money. It is just one more electronic device to add noise to the system with no beneficial gain.

Any decent deck built today can easily drive 10 amplifiers to their limit without such a device. As stated at least once above, If you are able to max out your 2 amplifiers, the 3rd will do the same.
