This is my first post, but I've been visiting this site for a couple years, and it's the best!

I just finished installing this radio in my 1968 Cougar, and get no video from either the iPod or DVD movies. I did some troubleshooting, and find that the stop light switch wire from the radio needs to be connected to the stop light switch before either video will work.

I can do it (and I guess I will if I want the DVD player to work properly), but am wondering if anyone can tell me why the wire has to be connected, ie: what purpose does it serve?

It serves the purpose of preventing live video from displaying while the car is being driven. This is a safety feature since video is distracting to the driver, and also it is a legal issue since it is illegal in all 50 states to have live video in view of the driver.

Thanks for the expalnation. In my '68 Cougar, there is no e-brake switch, but rather a brake light (stop light) switch, and if it was connected to that, it would only work when you had your foot on the brake pedal.

Illegal aside, can it be hooked up anywhere else? I guess my question is, can it be hooked up to an accessory wire...something that was only 'hot' with the key in the accessory position? If so, I can do that with no problem.
