will it be too much if i powered a 12" Type-R with a MRP-M650 at 2 ohms (600 rms). will the Type-R last long?

i've pushed 900 RMS to these beasts and they take it!
How long will they last? I never ran them longer than 30 mins at that rate. under normal use, i suggest u take a look at the "how to set your gains" article on the main page.

The R's are beasts. Do it son! Actually, keep your m500 it should be fine. You will gain less than 1 db by upgrading that to the 650. Otherwise upgrade your box/surround for higher SPL. Dynamat is the key.

dynamat makes it louder? do spl/bass competitors use it also? just dynamat the trunk?

If you're looking for SPL the best way is to build the most optimum box first. Then to gain a little SPL/sound clarity dynamat helps a little. But you need quite a bit to get good results for SPL. It is more about SQ.
Competitors that are really serious actually cement the interior because cement does not/barely flex. But who honestly drives around in an SPL car with cement. Usually you can't. So Dynamat is the best way for your daily driver.
Make sure you have adequate power though first by doing the Big 3/ alternator.

...your 500rms and single 12" arent enough, Im assuming...check this out, the more dedicated the vehicle is to audio, the better/louder it will be. The easiest change to increase your low's right now is the box. Next, is adding another M-500, type R, 1/0 +/- wire, big 3, battery and fuse type. BTW what fuse type are you using and the type R is a dual 4ohm right?
This is what I do for FUN!

add another m500 and a type r? i think one will do because the box that i have now is pretty loud to me. and its in a prefab box tuned @ 38 hz (was on the description).
"1/0 +/- wire" what do you mean by this? power and ground? the m500 only can fit a 4/8 gauge.
im using AGU fuses right now. and yes it is dual 4 ohm. im running it at 2 ohms.
