i have a 2006 mustang gt that came with only a 4 speaker set up and the am/fm cd changer. i purchased a shaker 500 head unit from a friend really cheap and i installed it. why i did this... what thief wants a factory radio?

any way...first thing i notice is that i have no more bass from my 4 speakers.

ok this is what i did to fix that. i install a hi/low converter to the rear speakers so i can run rca cables to the amp. that worked fine.

my main question is... is there a way that i can tap off the sub out put to the shaker 500 head unit to go directly to my amps? i study the wiring diagrams and it driving me nuts. thank your for your time folks.

just encase... my car is a 2006 ford mustang gt. stock radio was the ordinary am/fm cd player with 4 speakers.

hi,

use J4 for your sub out...pin 1 for the center, pin 2 for the shield on your rca cable.

y-adapter the output so to feed both channels of the amp equally.

you can use pin 4 for the trigger (remote in) on the amp, but you'll probably need a turn-on adapter. DEI and PAC both have them. you could also use J1--pin 2 but them woofer amp will remain on even with the radio turned off.

i've heard of people using (removing) the trip computer switch connector (same style as J4) to access the above wiring. assuming the vehicle doesn't have that feature of course.

Thank you Ween. that clears up allot for me now. i seen the PAC web sight with the adapter but wasn't sure of it.

my car don't have the j4 plug coming out of the harness. just the j1 and j3. i'll try to make something up or maybe get luck at walmart with a wiring harness. i'll get something going and try it out.

when you mean "a turn on adapter for the remote wire for the amp" are you talking about a simple relay to turn on and off my amp?

or a DEI 55000.

the reason, if i recall, is that the voltage output of the enable lead isn't 12 volts nominal. this may not allow the amplifier to turn on. either product will take a lower voltage or current limited output and boost it to a solid 12 volt signal.
