partially blown sub coil

Is there a such thing as a partially blown subwoofer coil or will the sub just work or not work?2005 Honda Accord DX

I 'm trying to determin if my subs are bad or if that's just the way they sound. I blew an amp and after it was replaced the subs haven't sounded the same. I took it to 3 different shops and got 3 different answers. I was told they are fine, they are plwn, and they are partially blown. They still play and put out bass, it just seems like they have lost their oommf.2005 Honda Accord DX

Test the DC resistance with a good quality ohm meter and compare that to the specs from the manufacturer.  That will tell you if the voice coil winding has been damaged.  Also, make sure the system is off and gently push them in by hand listening for any scraping sounds.  There should be none,Support the12volt.com

Tested resistance and got 2 ohms on both subs. Also checked for grinding and did no hear anything. I am baffled. Maybe there is absolutly nothing wrong with them and they just sound different with the new amp I don't know what else to do. I am probably going to replace them anyway after Christmas before I drive myself insane trying to figure out what wrong with them. If there is anything wrong at all.2005 Honda Accord DX

Could be simply the amp you replaced. Is it the exact same model or refurbished?

It's a completely different make and model. It's a brand new Alpine M500 that replaced an MTX 895.2005 Honda Accord DX
