I was wondering if anyone had any previous experiences with Pioneer Amp Model GM-X972 and Pioneer 12" Subwoofers model TSW305c(single voice coil). I ordered them and finally recieved them. I messed with them for a little while, they did not seem like they were half what I thought they would be, as a matter of fact that setup was not even as loud as my other sets of subs, Kenwood 12's or RF 12's and both of them are only on 200X2 amplifiers. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Because yesterday I placed another order for some more Pioneer components Tst110 tweeters and GM-X374. I don't know if it's juust the amps or what.... Any help is greatly appreciated

Some of the higher-end pioneer subs are not bad, but I was never a fan of the lower end ones.  Their speakers are pretty good (not MB quart quality of course, but not 500 bucks eitherPioneer Audio -- posted image.).  it is possible that you have the amp's wiring funked up a lil bit.  Also, what kind of box are they in, and what kind of box were previous subs you owned in?  Cuz that can make a HUGE difference in how they sound.  I'd definitely say most of the rockford subs are better than the pioneers; same thing for amps, but if used properly a pioneer amp will do you good for a very long time.

It is a 1.3cft sealed box the same box the RF's and the Kenwood's are in I ordered 2 of the same boxes and decided to put the pioneers in a sealed box  in my 4runner and i am going to put the RF's in the bandpass in my accord. As a matter of fact i had to take the fosgates out in order to put the pioneer's in this evening. I had them wired in parallel this evening, I  have not tried series wiiring yet. Oh yes by the way the box is stuffed with poly also. I dont know a friend of mine has two tsw304dvc last years model on a legacy 300X 2 and his were more impressive than these. And supposedly their powerhandling is 200 watts lower. I am going to try some different wiring. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

hey now, let's be nice to pioneer... actually, i'm a very firm believer in pioneer, the store i install for deals them.. and to be quite honest, pioneer(at least the premier line) is some really good stuff.. as far as quality, always keep in mind, you get what you pay for. I haven't had alot of problems with pioneer stuff, the GMX-972 is perfectly fine.. obviously, it's not the BEST amp money can buy, but it's good stuff for the amount of money they cost.. those subs should be fine too.. i'd check some certain things, such as GAIN/HPF/LPF/make sure all of your connections are good, especially in the box if it's a prefab, often times a big problem in a prefab box is connections coming un-done, check that, and if that doesn't help, take it to the distributor/store and ask them if they have any suggestions, or if it's defective, there should be a warranty on it, that is if you bought it from an authorized dealer.

I figured it out they hit suprisingly well. I am very satisfied with them now. I was trying them out in another car and it only 8 gauge wires that was some of the problem. Turns out they also sound better on my pioneer head unit with sub controls. Thanks for the input though.
