My wife bought me a radio for my truck, I have to love her anyways. I have found and purchased the mounting kit as well as antenna adapter. I did not purchase and adapter for the wiring harness. I intended to tap into existing wiring harness and solder. I looked at some of the information within other forums and see that there is a ignition bus. Is there a way that I can continue with my plan to partial strip and tap the wires (leaving harness intact) and provide all the necessary functions? If so, how? I am getting old and slow so keep it simple.

Leave the key in the ignition and open the drivers door. Is the chiming noise coming out of the speaker in the drivers door? If so, and you do not purchase the appropriate harnessor your vehicle, you will lose all warning chimes. If you have no problem with losing them, then yes you can continue.

< language=>Yes, it does chime with key in and door open. I don't care about chime so much as ignition wiring. I have a 13yr old that would leave the radio on...probably on purpose.

All the trucks from 2003+ are databus radio. You can install the way you want, but you will need to get a switched ignition from the fuse panel or the ignition switch.
