I have 3 JL 12 w3's d4's. I need to get different speakers because I would rather have dual 2 or 6 ohm voice coils for compatability with my amp. I was thinking about getting 3 kicker comp vr 12's. Will these have the same quality and power as the JL's. Any other suggestions for a good sub. the amp is a soundstream reference 700s. I am trying to find out which is cheaper, swapping out my amp or my subs. Any suggestions would be great. By the way the box is 3 cubic ft. one chamber. I also would like to have a one ohm load or 1.33.

Come on, you guys have answered harder questions than this foe me. Are the kicker comp vr subs as good as or better than the JL audio w3. Or is there any other dual voice coil speaker out there with the same quality at a cheaper price.

Well im biased on Diamond Audio so they would be my choice. Their bottom line CM3 series are better than both the JL's you have and way better than the Comp VR's. I would think your JL's are better than the Kickers myself. Price wise all probably run about the same. But anyways, i would think it would be cheaper to replace the amp. The subs you have are good subs, they just need more power. Alot would depend on what you are going for sound wise, what kind of music you like, is that box sealed or vented?? Just things everyone else will ask im sure.

The box is sealed and is sitting in the back of a 1997 camaro. I am going for knock your socks off brutal sound that will scare children and women. That is why I have 3 12's. I might just upgrade to a soundstream reference class a 1.0. Sounds like it problably would be cheaper even though it will cost me about 300-350 bucks. It can also stomach my .67 ohm load mono. Any other suggestions are still welcome and thanks again for the help.

Have you considered going to a ported enclosure instead?? Think that would help out in the scaring people part and take less to power to do. Also on that note, Rockford's fit that category good. I think they hit harder than the JL's but the JL's have a better sound quality. Can get some HE or HE2 series for a very reasonable price, at least where im from.

I've never heard a kicker that hits quite as nicely as some of the higher end JL's.
they just have this certain something to them.
