Ok I'm going to just jump in here which verbiage which will keep me from getting my pants sued off.

Ideally, you have tied down in the Tahoe and could use tie down straps that you can buy in most any store. This may require the addition of adding the brackets to your boxes. This would in turn *IMHO* require you to pre drill the holes for the screws and use tapered 1" wood screws with brackets that would have tapered screw sockets. The size of the straps and harness configuration is up to you, and where you really want them secure enough for an accident.

I think what no one is willing to do is tell you to run screws through the floor of your Tahoe near the gas tank.

If you do not have tie downs, you could drill UP through the floor (or fender well) in some symmetrical way and add bolts with lock washers and some anchoring system, which again you can buy at most stores or a hardware store. Bolt heads would be at the top. If you don't think you'll ever want to take the tie down out, use some of that jb-weld type stuff or thread lock on the nut side.

Good luck!

I have built in tie downs.. But i read somehwere else on this forum  that box should be mounted to frame if done right.. NOT to put straps .. It said you dont want box to move at all cause it will loose engery.. So the proper way is to mount it to frame...with some use of sheet metal..      Now i just need to know how its done!  Can someone help ??

Lose energy how? By jumping up and down?

Man you want to secure these so they don't KILL YOU.

And yeah, mouting to the frame would be ideal, but most of us don't have first hand knowledge of your frame.

You want this bolted to the frame, but . . . "I also have spare tire back there..  i want to be able to take that box out on the road if i need to change a tire..  "

Good luck with all that fabrication.

I read the article you mentioned, and I don't dispute that securing to the frame would be a good idea if possible (minus the exploding gas tanks), but this is a 12v forum, not a "tahoe frame and modification" forum.

When I want to speak about thing pertaining to my Pathfinder, I post in the Nissan forums.
