is the sub blown or the box?

i got a new box and one of the subs had this anoying flutering sound to it. Kind of like when a sub i blown. But my question comes i can run just straight treble to it and it sound's fine. so i'm not sure if t's the sub the box or maybe the wiring? Any help would be apreciated.

Pull it out of the box and run it free air see if it still sounds poorly. Don't crank it to hard because if you turn a sub up out of a box it is very hard on it and can ruin it. If it still sounds crappy it is problably your amp or your speaker. Check your positive and negative wires on your speaker and amp just to make sure everything matches up. What kind of sub, what is the box made out of, and what is the volume of the box?J. Mike Perkins

it's an ma audio box with subs premade so the volume size should be right. My friend say's it might be the wiring. it's a tri-sub box and i have no idea how it's suppsed to be wired. I tried taking the sub out and it still makes the sound so i guess it's blown. thanks for the help. Good thing it's still under waranty

try the sub in one of the other holes see how it sounds then. Big Dave

it is just one sub. my set up is a one farad cap ma audio 1600 watt amp 6 channel model# M1680i the box is a try sub box two sealed and one bandpass model# mbbp10 well the subs are duel voice coil all set up at 4ohms. In the back their is only one jack for + @ -. the sub i have a problem with only has one positive wire and onenegativ then one wire runing from one terminal on the sub onto the other terminal of the same sub. the rest of the wiring i can't even begin to explain.
