Hi all.. did a search through the forums and didnt come up with anything very recent on this.. the last very active thread being 6 years old..
Has anyone tried remote mounting a detachable face from a deck produced in the last couple years? Im wondering if with the newer decks with VFD or OLED displays still handle having a few feet of ribbon cable between the deck and face?
Ive got a few cars from the 70's Im building at the moment and am not interested in hacking up the dash or hiding the deck far away in the glovebox..
thanks,
Brett

I have disected many a faceplate. GET a radio with a remote control. remove the IR out of the faceplate and install in one of the A/C vents (out of sight) the remove the LCD panel and mount inside the rear view mirror

Before you remove the remote sensor out of  a new radio, PAC sells an infrared repeater.  They retail for less than 40 dollars.  mount the eye anywhere you can aim a remote, and mount the transmitter some where that it can see the front of the radio.
