89 Caprice. The wiring harness adapter that came with the car has the normal colors that match up to the radio but there's a few i dont know. it has an extra purple wire, blue, and orange.

It was in the car when I bought it.

it has F, E, C, D, K, L on one side and J, H, B, A, M and G on the other. These letters are right over each color wire.

HELP.

Do not try to match your aftermarket radio colors to the car colors, 9 times out of 10 they are not the same function.
Is it possible that what you think is purple is actually dark blue and in position J?
Anyway here are the pinouts (my diagrams do not show polarity for the speakers):
A = Light Green = Rt front speaker
B = Tan = Lt front speaker
C = Dark Green = Rt front speaker
D = Gray = Lt front speaker
E = Yellow = Remote turn on/Power antenna
F = Yellow = Ignition
G = Black = Ground
H = Brown = Lt rear speaker
J = Dark Blue = Rt rear speaker
K = Yellow = Lt rear speaker
L = Light Blue = Rt rear speaker
M = Gray = Illumination
Pigtail Colors:
A = Orange = Battery 12V
B = Brown = Dimmer

All circuits should be verified with a digital multi-meter prior to making any connections.

Are you referring to an aftermarket wire harness that plugs into the car's harness?
The colors I have provided are the factory colors.
Most aftermarket wire harnesses follow the EIA color standards as follows:
12V Ignition / Acc = Red
12V Batt / Memory = Yellow
Ground = Black
Power Antenna = Blue
Amp Turn-On = Blue / White
Amp Ground = Black / White
Illumination = Orange
Dimmer = Orange / White
Right Front (+) = Gray
Right Front (-) = Gray / Black
Left Front (+) = White
Left Front (-) = White / Black
Right Rear (+) = Violet
Right Rear (-) = Violet / Black
Left Rear (+) = Green
Left Rear (-) = Green / Black
If these are the colors you are looking at than purple is for right rear (+) speaker, blue is power antenna and orange is illumination.
Be careful with the orange wire, sometimes the orange and ORANGE / white are swapped compared to the factory.

yes im reffering to the wires that plug into the factory harness. theres no yellow wire at all.

i know the purple is the rr speaker. but like i said theres 2 of them that say right rear. the factory color black ground connects to the purple and the orange wire on the harness.

yellow is in the 2 wire pigtail aftermarket harness and would match up to the factory/OEM orange.
the 2 wire OEM pigtail should look like the 1 on the left in this image.
The aftermarket harness should have 2 pieces like this. Do you have the 2 wire a/m harness?
Would you please list how the colors match up on the 2 harnesses. I do not have 1 of these harnesses on hand and cannot tell what color is over or under the other.
OEM letter = OEM color = A/M color
A =
B =
C =
D =
E =
F =
G =
H =
J =
K =
L =
M =
