Just wondering...Does anyone know why on the wiring diagrams for a Dodge Ram 1500, the starter wire has the comment to add a relay for remote start.  AudioVox lists such a comment but not on the Bulldog site

Starter

Yellow or Blue / YELLOW  Ignition Switch Harness, Must Add Relay for Remote Start

Is this just refering to the Blue / YELLOW.

Just curious.  Thanks.

sounds like only for the blue / YELLOW.
I haven't found any wiring diagram that shows the use of blue / YELLOW except for what is listed in the wiring guide.
Examining the diagrams for +/- 2 years they are all configured the same way. The yellow wire supplies +12V to the coil of the starter relay in the power distribution center (under hood fusebox). It would not seem to be a current capacity issue.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. Reason I asked is that I installed a Viper 571 in my brothers truck and didn't find the Blue / YELLOW and had no problems using the Yellow for the starter. Just wanting to clear my own mind that I didn't miss something.

One other question about this truck. I did not connect the Ignition 2  wire as this was acting like a second accessory. Voltage dropped to zero when cranking the starter.  Anyone know for sure if this is a Ignition 2 or a second accessory.  Or does a second Ignition drop voltage on cranking. Everything is working fine with the truck,  remote start, and key take-over. So I left it alone.

Ignition 2 BLACK/ White
