My First Posting Ever! Yay! :)
I have 2003 Rav4 and I plan on work on it.
First: The Audio System.
Second: Alarm System. (Don't have one in this car.)
Third: Maybe some lights or something.
4th: Paint Job lowered on some rims or something like that.
Right now I've bought Speakers and Subs and a Double deck, unit. Whatever you want to call it.
Unit is a (Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD)
Speakers are a (6.5" Pioneer TS-D1602R)
I bought 6 of them. Four in the doors and two in the back on the sides. The two in the back will have to have holes drilled for them.
Subs are 3 (8" Pioneer TS-SW841D)Free-Air
I have a Rear Hardtop Cover that I will be cutting into fit the 8in subs in. I will probably pass it to a fiber glass guy.
But here is My Fist Question:
I have no clue what amplifiers to get? I don't know the math to get the right answer but I ask a person and he told me to get a 6 Channel Amp. and a 4 Channel Amp.
I still don't know the Watts or What Classes of Amp.
I found two Amps on the Internet. There made by JL Audio.
There Class D. I really don't understand classes.
6 Channel is XD600/6 600W 3/4/5/6 Channel Amplifier
4 Channel is XD400/4 400W 2/3/4 Channel Amplifier
Will These Work? If you need Watt numbers for Speakers and Subs go to the Pioneer Site.
If you know of better amps to go with. Please Tell Me.
Second Question:
Is My Stock Battery! Will I need to replace it with a better quality battery? What kind?
Third Question:
Help Me Find a great explanation of the BIG 3.
4th Question:
I don't think I have to mess with my Alternator. Right?
I don't want to be the moron that has his tail lights fading on and off as the Bass is bumping... That is because the alt doesn't have enough power right?
5th Question:
What kind of wire do you use? I don't even know what kind the stock is?
I really haven't done anything to the car at all yet little scared to do this yet intill I get all stuff to do it.
Some great information will be awesome.
More Questions will be coming.
Sorry It's Long.
Thx again, Tim

Hi Tim.  Welcome to the forum.  I suggest you should first pop over to the Hot Topics forum and you will find some threads that can help you answer your questions.  The first thing you should do, IMO, is determine your budget and make sure you have included funds for a Big 3 upgrade.

Do the security system first.  I know it's not as fun as the audio.  I did the audio first in my own vehicle and didn't take long for it to grow legs.  Had I done the alarm first I may still have the sub and amp that ran away.

every question you asked could have been answered by yourself......by just reading though post on this site. for the "big three" there are plenty of good examples on you tube from people explaining it, to showing you "how to" on different cars/trucks. as far as amps go it's really up to what you have planned for the system......what do you want to add/replace and what can you afford/willing to spend?
