will laying my sub on its back hurt it?

I recently blew my Pioneer TS-W303R 12 and decided to upgrade so i purchased a Pioneer TS-W3002D4 12 inch. I figured a bigger more expensive sub would have higher spl's and knock up my dbls( to my disappointment so far no immediate difference). I have the sub laying on its back in a sealed 1.2 cubic inch box. It recommends a 0.8 but i got to be happy with what i got right now. Will this hurt the sub at all?? I plan on getting another one also.

I dont think woof's have a break in period like a car or a gearbox. Your just probably getting used to them. You can have the sub mounted in any orientation and it will not harm it. I wish I could do subs again but I guess thats what I get for having a wife and kids. I miss those days. I used to have two 15 inch MTX'sin my 1985 Cutlass supreme, it used to make a quarter jump at least 6 inches when you laid it on the trunk. So enjoy these days while you can because when wife and babies come along playtime is basically over unless you have a very cool chick. Take Care man,Jonathan Ziegler

  I agree 100%, I might get some shots popped at me but the amount of bass rely's on the enclsure and the amp pushing the subs.. I have heard Pyramid speakers bump pound when pushed by the right amplifier. Jonathan Ziegler
