i installed a system into an 05 Nissan Altima and now it has an engine whine. I installed a 4 channel amp and now i hear the engine in the speakers when its low. I checked the connections and they are all good. I ran the RCAs opposite side of the amp wire. The car also has a cap in the trunk but dont know why. All the parts were used so not sure which could it be the radio the amp etc.

Just a few questions so we can help you better...

What kind of amp? Brand new or old?

What about your ground? How good is it? Did you polish it back to bare metal?

What kind of RCAs did you use?

is your radio by chance a pioneer? where did you run your ground to and did you shave the paint off to bare metal? are you running any other amps or is it just that 4 channel?

Ok radio is Pioneer, the amp is clif design and the RCAs are phonix gold. The car has two amps one for a single 10 inch sub. The ground was there already and the paint was sanded off and screwed in

Also the radio ground i grounded it to the chassis and the antenna doesnt work but the antenna didnt work before i installed the amp the radio was already there. I seen a black wire connected to the antenna does that connect to anything

try grounding the rcas' outer shield, not the middle prong that goes into the rca jack but the outer part, behind the radio and let us know if it gets better or worse.

I found out the problem it was the amp. The amp was bad i installed another amp to test and the noise was gone. Thank you very much for ur fast response and help guys.

Chances are your amp is not bad. Did you try turning the gain control all the way down on the initial amp?

Just ground the rca plugs problem should go away
