I'm putting a JVC XR810 reciever in a 05 Ford F150 and have a question about the instructions for the ground wire. The instructions say I must connect the ground directly to the chassis with a screw or I'll damage the unit. I'm using a Scoshe harness to connect to the factory harness and it has a ground wire that I assume is a chassis ground on the truck wiring. Can anyone tell me if I have to follow the instructions or can I connect the JVC's ground wire to the harness? Is there a advantage to going directly to the chassis with the groud wire?

As I stated earlier, you should be fine with the factory wire.  I forgot about some of the newer decks requiring more current than that wire may be able to provide.  If the lights of your deck dim with the volume up a  bit, you may want to run a wire to the chassis as well.

Since I only wanted to do this one time I did both.

Thanks again, your second reply may have saved me some trouble later.
