Howdy all.  I have an 07 classic body Chevy Silverado and changing the head unit out.  The app guide calls for a single or double din unit.  I want to go double din but my dealer is telling me that the true 7" double din doesn't fit and go with either a 6.2" or 5.8"

Any tips or tricks or ideas?

I am really wanting to go with the pioneer avh-p4200...but is a 7" model....

Your dealer is wrong. The screen size doesn't change the foot print size of the chassis. We use the Scosche GM1590AB install kit for this truck.

Sometimes people "assume" things because they heard it through the grapevine or they don't have experience with the vehicle.

I just put a double din in my silverado classic. I did have to do a little work cutting the support for the factory stereo, but that was it. Fit nicely and looks great.

You need to look into anAmerican International dash kit.  GM-K422 (Not real sure of the exact number).  Screens that open go really well into that kit.  Not so easy if you are trying to use the Metra 99-2003 kit.
