Hi All, I am trying to install a new headunit in my 88 z24. I bought a wiring harness with the new unit and all went well with the hookups or so I thought. The unit won't retain any settings when the power is turned off. I have checked and doubled checked to be sure the yellow memory lead is connected to constant 12v power which it is. I used a multi-tester to be sure the power stayed when I turned the car off and it does. Any ideas what I may have done wrong? Also is there a way to possibly reset the unit? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,R

As long as you have 3 things, the memory should be fine. Those three things are 12V constant (always constant as you said it was) switched power (which comes on in ACC and in the RUN position) and lastley, the ground (which is ALWAYS grounded in all postions) If those three things are predominant then your problem is with the deck itself. It would need to go in for warranty work. Simple as that man. Hope that it's something with the wiring and you don' t have to go in for painfull warranty work.

Hey Wrencher_25 thanks for your post. I ended up bringing the unit back to the store where I purchased it and they tested it and came to the same conclusion I did. They were great and let me exchange it for another unit and that one works perfectly so far!! Luckily some stores still value customer satisfaction. Now all there is left to do is drop the top on the Z car and crank the tunes and cruise!!!!!!! Thanks again

Rick
