I am having trouble deciding on an Amplifier to power two kicker Marine 10" Subs.. The RMS rating is 150 watts and max is 300watts on these subs.  The ohm rating would be 4 ohm for each.  I would like to power these with a Class D Mono Amplifier at 2 ohm, but each brand has similar specs, so I am basically needing to see from others which Amplifier would work most efficient with these Subwoofers.  Thanks, greg

Hey there Tresvatos,
Depending on the application of the amplifier (Whether or not it is in a boat) and the budget you have, I can narrow it down to a few options for each application.
If this is being installed in a boat or other marine location:
MTX TM601D 200 RMS @ 4 ohms- Retail $299.95
Kicker ZXM450.2 450 RMS @ 4 ohms bridged - Retail $349.95
I did a bit of research and found these two products to be quite reliable and can take a beating (and splashing lol). Now the kicker actually exceeds your subs total power handling (150 RMS x 2 = 300 RMS) So if you choose that the kicker is the one you want, I highly suggest you be very cautious on the gain control. Turn it up too much and you'll end up eventually smoke your sub's voice coils (Though kickers can usually take a hell of a beating AFTER they have been broken in.)
Now for a car installation:
MTX TE601D 300 RMS @ 4 ohms - Retail $479.95
Alpine MRP-M500 300 RMS @ 4 ohms - Retail $199.95
As you can see, the alpine will work perfectly for you, and its quite a lower price then most other products.
Now keep in mind that all the products I have selected are not discontinued products. You can probably get better deals elsewhere but this was the pricing listed on their website.
Now if you actually have a budget I can find better products for ya lol
Hope that helps,
Shadow

thank you for your help! I was planning on running the subs to a mono amp so the amp would see 2 ohms ( 2, 4ohm speakers parallel ).. The install would be on a boat, although the location would be in a dry area.  I have had good luck with electronics in boats by spraying the connections and circuit boards with an electronics protectant we have available in the military.  The Marine amplifier would be the way to go here definately, but I am more concerned with sound quality in this case..
