Hello all
I haven't posted or even been back on this forum to check things out for quite some time now. I just started planning on putting a new system in my car and came up with an idea I thought I would share.
I wanted to mount my two amps to the top of my subwoofer box, just because its clean, tidy, and everything is all in one area for removal if necassary.
I didnt like the idea of mounting my amps directly to my box because i am afraid the vibration will rattle something loose in my amps.
It just so happens I work as an engineer for a company that designs vibration damping materials and components for the aerospace industry. Rather than going out and spending a bunch of money on rubber padding or dynamat, i figured I could come up with something at work.
Using purpose designed vibration reduction material at work, I came up with what I thought was the best combination for vibration damping (for this application, atleast). After everything is all said and done the pad is a composite of three different layers of our materials. I'm going to cover it in carpeting that matches my sub box and mount between my box and my amps.
I thought I would come on and throw out a line to see if anyone else would be interested in one. I can make just about any size you would need (within reason, depending on our scrap load) and It will only be the cost of materials. I figure work will let me have it as cost, which should be around $25.00 per square foot, give or take.
Anyway, if anyone is interested PM me and I can give you a better rundown of the materials used and see if i can get something made up for you.
Cheers
