I have a 02 grand am that has the monsoon system with a jvc arsenal head unit that has the adapter to keep the door chimes. I also have 2 kicker cvr s with an eclipse amp. Today i changed the bolt on the battery so the power cable to the amp was more secure to the battery, was in a hurry so didnt have time to disconnect the ground terminal and as i was installing it i bumped my ratchet off the ground terminal (not sure if this has anything to do with my problem) but now my radio will not turn off unless i do it myself and i have no sound from any of my speakers. My subs are fine they still turn on and bump when the car is started. I have all of my speakers wired to the rca jacks through the adapter to the rear of the head unit. I have checked all the fuses in the cab engine and back of the head unit. Not sure if my monsoon amp is shot or what? Can anybody help me out? Thanks in advance.

i think you may have fried your harness plug. the sound runs through it and it also controls the turn on lead to your radio so if it's shot then that would explain everything. you say that your subs still work fine so i dont think anything is wrong with the radio.

Pull the radio out and reset it and the interface by disconnecting them completely from the vehicle. Depending on what model interface was used it may need reset more than the radio does but it wouldnt hurt to do it all. Ive seen things come about from stuff like this. Also, did you check all the fuses in both fuse boxes?

yea it is possible that a damaged adapter can keep your radio powered up. certain models are prone to being damaged when you are working on the battery.
why would you replace the speakers unless you were going to do it anyway? do you know if the speakers are blown? did you test them with a multimeter or try hooking them up to an external source? and you shouldnt have to run new wires either.
you can bypass the factory system by running wires from the radio to the output side of the factory amp but you will still need a new harness. these GM harnesses supply data back and fourth to the onboard computers and not having one can sometimes cause serious problems in the long run.

was considering replacing them anyway and i dont wanna mess with that amp so im jus goin to run new wire to the head unit jus gonna unplug the rca's that are connected to gm adapter at the head unit. checked all fuses none were blown tried the reset didnt work so the amp is probably done for anyway. jus gotta order new speakers now.
